Chancellor Cordova and I are extremely pleased to announce the appointment of the inaugural members of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers for the 2005/2006 academic year. The inaugural members of the Academy are as follows:

Professor Francoise Forster-Hahn, Department of Art History
Distinguished Professor Emory Elliott,

As inaugural members, they have also been chosen to serve as this year's Selection Committee. The Selection Committee is charged with appointing the remaining six members to the Academy for the 2006/2007 academic year and selecting the winner of the 2005/2006 Teaching Innovation Award, which will be announced at this year's commencement ceremony. All members of the Academy have been past recipients of the Senate's Distinguished Teaching Award. Go to the Academic Personnel web site ( http://academicpersonnel.ucr.edu/ ) under “programs and awards” for a more complete description of the Academy and its charges.
