Departmental Recommendation Letter

Departmental recommendation letter must include the yes/no vote of eligible faculty on the proposed rank and step for the candidate.
Departmental recommendation letter must adequately outline the candidate’s accomplishments in the area of research, teaching and service for a tenured appointment. For an appointment without tenure the letter must address research accomplishments, plus teaching and service if appropriate.

In accordance with APM 220-80-e, the department may adopt abbreviated procedures for review of the departmental recommendation letter, provided these procedures are followed consistently in all faculty appointments and the process is clearly communicated to the faculty.
